Occupational Health and Safety Policy
General Policy
ElectroCom United Pty Ltd is committed to supplying and installing quality electrical services. Important towards this commitment is the occupational health and safety (OH&S) of all persons employed within the organisation, clients subcontractors and those visiting the organisation ,is considered to be of the utmost importance.
Our policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy systems of work for all our employees and contractors and to provide such information, training and supervision needed for this purpose. Resources in line with the importance attached to OH&S will be made available to comply with all relevant Acts and Regulations and to ensure that the workplace is safe and without risk to health.
The promotion and maintenance of OH&S is primarily the responsibility of management. Management at all levels is required to contribute to health and safety of all persons in the workplace. To end this, it is management’s responsibility to develop, implement and keep under review, in consultation with its employees, the Organisation’s OH&S program.
Supervisors
Each supervisor is required to ensure that this policy and the OH&S program is developed and effectively implemented in their areas of control, and to support supervisors and hold them accountable for their specific responsibility. Each first-line supervisor is responsible, and will be held accountable, for taking all practical measures to ensure:
- That in the area of their control, the OH&S Program is complied with and employees are supervised and trained to meet their requirements under this Program;
- That employees are consulted in issues which affect their health and safety and any concerns that they may have referred to management.
Employees
All employees are required to co-operate with the OH&S Policy and Programs to ensure their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace.
Contractors & Sub-contractors
All contractors and sub-contractors engaged to perform work on the organisation’s premises or locations are required, as part of their contract, to comply with the OH&S Policies ,procedures and programs of the organisation and to observe directions on health and safety from designated officers of the organisation.
Occupational Health & Safety Program
In order to implement the general provisions of this policy, a program of activities and procedures will be set up, continually updated and effectively carried out. This program will relate to all aspects of OH&S including:
- OH&S training and education
- Identification of potential OH&S hazards and assessments of risks
- Develop and maintain safe working procedures
- Consultations with employees
- Provision of OH&S equipment ,services and facilities
- Workplace inspections and evaluations
- Reporting and recording of incidents, accidents injuries and illnesses;; and;
- Provision of information to employees, contractors and sub-contractors
- Monitoring the OH&S performance of sub-contractors
- Review of the OH&S policy and program regularly.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy
ElectroCom United provides a safe and productive work environment for all employees. It is the policy of the company that employees shall not be involved with the unlawful use, possession, sale or transfer of drugs or narcotics in an y manner which may impair their ability to perform assigned duties or otherwise adversely impact the company’s business/ Further, employees shall not possess alcoholic beverages in the workplace, or consume alcoholic beverages in association with the workplace or during working time.
Under no circumstances will any employee affected by alcohol and/or affected by any other drug be permitted to work and or operate any equipment.
If an employee is affected by alcohol or any drug and is sent home to recover, they will not be paid for the lost time.
Any employee using drugs can cause serious damage to the company’s reputation and perception in the marketplace as well as endangering others. Any use of drugs whilst at work or acting as a representative of ElectroCom United, will not be tolerated.
Being in the workplace whilst under the influence of alcohol may be a cause for disciplinary action and in some cases termination.
ElectroCom United offers encouragement and assistance to those employees who wish to seek advice or treatment from counselling services, or other professional community services.
